Winter Walk to School Day at Crosby Heights P.S.
Several inches of snowfall didn't stop the students and parents at Crosby Heights from walking to school for the province's annual "Winter Walk to School Day". Everyone enjoyed a delicious cup of hot chocolate generously donated by Starbucks to warm them up after their walk. The walk is one of many programs the Healthy Schools Committee promotes to staying healthy. Teacher Mark Andrews says: "The goals of these programs are to teach our students to be active, safe, and healthy while making community connections. Winter walk to School encourages children and their parents to leave the car at home and be active. Walking to school is fun! In the end, when there are more students walking the sidewalks of our neighbourhoods, the streets become safer; cars drive slower and there are more eyes to watch out for our children." Crosby Heights is located at 190 Neal Drive.
