Annual Crime Stoppers of York Region School Symposium
The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts was buzzing with students attending the Annual Crime Stoppers of York Region School Symposium. The opening ceremonies included remarks from each of the school boards along with those made by York Regional Police Chief, Armand La Barge. Guest speakers discussed this year’s theme, “Social Responsibility,” with the 400 students from the York Region District School Board and the York Catholic District School Boards, who packed the main theatre. During break-out sessions, guest speakers talked about healthy relationships, internet safety, anti-bullying, drugs and gangs, graffiti, and social influences. MADD Canada also presented a very dynamic multi-screen presentation on the effects of drinking and driving. There was definitely a lot of great information shared that day and if you would like to reach Crime Stoppers to learn more, call 1(800)222-TIPS.
